UNTHA’s Christmas countdown

Over the past 12 months at UNTHA UK, we’ve celebrated fantastic team appointments, stellar achievements, inspiring client stories, and shredding successes — it’s certainly been a year to be proud of.

So, commencing at the start of advent, and continuing every day leading up to Christmas, we have been unwrapping a different highlight from our 2023 journey. Whether you’ve been part of our story from the beginning or we’ve recently been introduced, we invite you to share the joy of the season with UNTHA UK.

1. First up, our longstanding sales director, Gary Moore, earned recognition on the prestigious IoD Director of the Year shortlist, as a testament to his exceptional leadership and contributions to the company’s success.

2. Earlier this year, the team refurbished the on-site trials facility and procured four new demonstration machines, allowing organisations from across the country to see what our shredders are really capable of, and test them with their own materials. We haven’t looked back since! And our calendar is open for 2024 bookings. Get in touch to secure your spot today

3. Soaring into the holiday spirit. We’re still in awe of sales office manager, Sarah Murray’s thrilling charity skydive in September, showcasing the UNTHA UK team’s fearless commitment to making a difference. Dedicated to having a positive impact, Sarah raised over £800 for our charity of the year, Marie Curie.

4. Last month, we celebrated our colleague Darren McDonnel’s rise to the position of installation supervisor. The move was in recognition of his outstanding level of attention to detail when commissioning UNTHA’s industrial shredders and ancillary equipment. Since the start of his UNTHA journey, Darren has proven a crucial piece in the jigsaw when it comes to project success.

5. UNTHA UK worked closely with Norwich-headquartered PSH Environmental Ltd. to unveil a pioneering solar-powered operation, which turns waste into a renewable energy source. Following a significant re-investment into a 12,000ft² new building, 40% extension to the yard, new wash plant, solar system, and an UNTHA XR3000C mobil-e shredder which lies at the heart of the facility, the plant is now capable of throughputs of 40 tonnes of material per hour. That’s equivalent to 80,000 tonnes per annum.

6. The appointment of Katie Mallinson as our global marketing director served as a significant milestone in November — marking the strategic moves that are shaping UNTHA’s international presence. Katie’s vision and leadership are setting the stage for an even more impactful 2024.

7. Celebrating the spirit of teamwork and sportsmanship. Earlier this year, UNTHA UK proudly sponsored Southport Athletic — a winning partnership that fuels both success and community engagement.

8. Our sales director, Gary Moore, shared his insights on achieving progress in environmental sustainability with Circular — focusing on the UK’s strides toward a sustainable future and the role businesses play in this vital journey.

9. Unlocking insights at the WEEE Conference, our sales manager Ian Harvey and sales consultant Lewis Horne travelled to the respected event in London in November. The dynamic duo explored the latest trends, innovations, and discussions that are shaping the future of waste and recycling.

10. In July, we welcomed Claudia Johnson to the UNTHA UK outfit.. As the main point of contact for customers seeking help with products and technical issues, Claudia plays a leading role in continually improving UNTHA UK’s service delivery. From creating parts quotations, to arranging engineering, maintenance, and inspection visits and more — our cheerful teammate is a valuable asset who helps uphold our high standards of customer care.

11. Lights, camera, action! On one of our filming days with Manto, we took viewers behind the scenes at Textek’s cutting-edge bulky waste processing plant. Showcasing the innovation at the heart of the facility, our video focused on the technologies shaping the future of mattress recycling.

12. A tribute to Marie Curie. This year saw the launch of our custom-sprayed shredder, paying homage to our charity of the year. Explore the inspiration behind this unique initiative and how it aligns with our commitment to innovation and honouring great organisations.

13. What’s our sales consultant’s Christmas dinner staple, hope for 2024, and a memorable item he gifted someone else? Lewis Horne shares his insights in this festive feature for Yorkshire Times.

14. We bless the day James French — a tech enthusiast with a wealth of experience — joined UNTHA UK!  Hailing from Volvo Construction and GAP Engineering, James has wowed us with his troubleshooting finesse which is helping to shape the future of UNTHA’s shredding standards, and customers’ project success.

15. Pedalling for a cause, UNTHA UK teammates completed a 993-mile indoor cycle ride in support of charity, Marie Curie. Over seven days, our colleagues took on a series of ‘cycling legs’ on a pair of exercise bikes in the UNTHA UK reception area. What was the significance of the 993 miles? It’s actually the exact distance from our Boroughbridge base to UNTHA’s Austrian headquarters in Kuchl.

16. UNTHA UK’s Ian Harvey featured in MRW’s ‘My Little Interview’. Our sales manager shared his environmental perspectives and shed light on the challenges and opportunities within UK waste management, right now.

17. UNTHA’s first global marketing summit — a journey to strengthening our international strategy. The two-day event in November saw delegates from Austria, Türkiye, the UK, Poland, Spain, and USA join forces for knowledge-sharing, workshops, discussions, factory tours, and team socials. The shared mission? Think globally, act locally. Stay tuned…

18. In order to cater to the growing demand for our shredders, we announced a further investment in a series of stock RS machines at our Boroughbridge HQ. With this strategic move, we aim to enhance customer satisfaction — reducing wait times and guaranteeing immediate availability of our globally-renowned machinery.

19. John Lawrie Tubulars boosts sustainability with UNTHA’s RS40 four shaft shredder. The Montrose-headquartered firm has further bolstered its environmental credentials by investing in a system that enables the 100% in-house recycling of its tubular by-products. A specially configured RS40 machine is now in operation, following successful trials earlier in the year.

20. Throughout 2023, we’ve been spotlighting industry peers in our ‘Why the environment matters to me…’ blog series. It’s been fantastic to gather unique perspectives from environmental, waste, and recycling experts helping to shape our world.

21. Did you know, UNTHA UK offers a shredder hire service? There are occasions where a shredder is only needed on an ultra short-term basis, perhaps because it has to tackle an unexpected influx of materials, for example, and then the machine will no longer be required. The shredder hire package is just another way for us to support the needs of our customers. If there’s a waste challenge to be solved, we love to think it can be an UNTHA shredder at the heart of it.

22. UNTHA UK had the pleasure of teaming up with Northedge Photography to capture a fresh series of team headshots. Under their guidance, we’ve added a vibrant touch to our professional profiles. Take a look on our team page to discover the new looks.

23. Our innovative pallet shredder has been revolutionising waste disposal costs for prominent distribution firm, K Engineering. The PS1300 machine efficiently chips away at waste wood, enhancing sustainability efforts for the West Midlands company and saving over £15,000 in waste collection fees per year.

24. This season, discover the magic of our shredder rebuilds — breathing new life into equipment and ensuring a greener, more efficient future. Dive into the details of our shredder rebuild process, transforming your existing equipment into a cutting-edge powerhouse.

25. Merry Christmas from the whole team at UNTHA UK! We’re completing our festive countdown with a celebration of our incredible group of professionals who make innovation and success possible every day. From engineers to customer support, each member plays a crucial role in our journey — and we can’t wait to see what we achieve next…
