We’re big on ‘team’ at UNTHA UK, so have continued to show our moral support for the many challenging, unusual, and sometimes downright daft fundraising initiatives that our colleagues have been involved in, over the years. The worthy causes have typically been charities close to the hearts of the individuals who have collectively raised thousands of pounds, for multiple local and national organisations alike.
But that led us to think — what if we came together and joined forces to make the biggest difference we possibly could. So at the start of 2023 we had a team vote, and selected UNTHA UK’s new charity of the year… Marie Curie.
While many worthy causes were nominated to be our charity of the year, Marie Curie was chosen because of the undeniable help they have provided to so many people we know. As the UK’s leading end of life charity, they offer care and support for people and their families living with terminal illness. With hospices, nurses, helpers, advisers and volunteers, they are there every step of the way, from initial diagnosis, through to dealing with bereavement and grief. They helped 69,000 people last year, and we hope that the money we raise in 2023 will go some way to supporting their ongoing research, policy and public affairs work, and of course, the delivery of nursing and hospice care that so many people need.
We’ve also custom-sprayed one of our best selling industrial shredders — the UNTHA RS40 four shaft machine — in homage to Marie Curie. But that’s not all. When we sell this extra special recycling shredder, we won’t just donate £200 to the coffers — we’ll transfer an incredible £5,000 to our JustGiving page. We haven’t just organised a 12-month calendar of fundraising activities — we’ve also pledged to donate £200 from every shredder sale, to Marie Curie, until the end of our financial year.
