UNTHA UK attending 2024 WEEE Conference

WEEE conference

UNTHA UK is thrilled to be attending the upcoming WEEE Conference 2024, organised by letsrecycle. With the media giant’s renowned expertise in the waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) recycling space, this event promises to be an exciting foray into the latest developments in the recovery, reuse, recycling, and treatment of redundant tech.

Taking place at the esteemed Royal College of Physicians in London, on 21 March, the conference offers a prime opportunity for industry leaders to come together to address ongoing regulatory updates, shifting consumer behaviours, EPR concerns, cutting-edge developments within the sector, and much more.

Gary Moore, sales director at UNTHA UK, Lewis Horne, sales consultant, and Katie Mallinson, global marketing director, will proudly represent our business. As well as hearing from the distinguished speaker line-up — particularly surrounding the more complex types of WEEE, including the hotly contested issue of vapes — the trio looks forward to showcasing the UNTHA brand in the exhibitor space, reconnecting with familiar faces, and forging new connections.

Addressing common misconceptions about WEEE processing remains a crucial priority too. While many understand the scale of the problem, not everyone is confident in efficiently tackling it. Some think manual breakdown of equipment is still the best process, for example — not least to prioritise the reuse of equipment. In line with the Waste Hierarchy, there’s no doubt reuse is important. But when WEEE is truly redundant, mechanical shredding opens up a world of possibilities — efficiently liberating materials for recycling and remanufacturing. To this end, we’re excited to discuss UNTHA’s own capabilities too.

Gary expressed his enthusiasm for our return to the events scene, after a brief hiatus: “Having placed emphasis on organising our own events in recent years, attendance at wider conferences has naturally taken a back seat.

“However, recognising how important the successful handling of WEEE is to both our organisation and industry, and with hundreds of successful shredding installations now tackling this waste stream, there’s never been a better time for UNTHA to re-engage with the community and contribute to navigating industry challenges head-on.”
