That was 2022!

60 seconds with Marcus Brew

Here at UNTHA UK, we can’t believe that another year is almost through – and what a last 12 months it has been!

And while we’re now looking ahead and focusing on what 2023 has in store, we wanted to take a moment of reflection to celebrate everything that has happened in the exciting yet challenging year that has been 2022.

Speaking to our MD, Marcus Brew, here are some of his most memorable milestones…

Achieving ‘Leading Light’ prestige

In the first half of the year, we were not only listed in the Digital Enterprise Top 100 for the third year in a row, but we also received additional recognition for being one of the top 10 performers.

This was a very special moment for the company and one which celebrates our investment in digital efficiencies, for the benefit of both the internal team and our customers.

Launching our cutter reconditioning service

In August, we unveiled this new service to boost the profitability and sustainability of our four shaft shredders – giving significant savings to the life of a cutter set by refurbishing multiple times.

This was another great example of our unwavering commitment to innovation and quality!

Meeting old and new faces at IFAT

It was fantastic to spend time with international colleagues at the five-day IFAT 2022 expo – seeing UNTHA representatives from Austria, Germany, Spain and Latin America, Poland, France, Australia, and Southeast Asia all come together to share experiences and industry expertise.

One real highlight was the UNTHA XR mobil-e shredder live demo session – transforming wood waste into a biomass product in a single pass.

Going ‘viral’ with our WEEE campaign

For ‘International E-Waste Day’ – that took place on 14 October – we partnered with social media powerhouse One Minute Briefs, to raise awareness and encourage society to play their part in helping to tackle this recycling issue.

The #WhereDoesWEEEGo campaign not only resulted in inspiring visuals, but the original tweet alone generated 17,000 impressions!

If this changes the habits of only a handful of people, we’ve done our job in helping to make society adopt a more circular – and less wasteful – mindset regarding their end-of-life gadgets.

Further growing our team

This year, we’ve welcomed new colleagues to the UNTHA UK fold – further strengthening our talented cohort! We also awarded six highly deserved promotions – congratulations to Ben, Dave, Tony, Julie, Sharon, and Claire!

Increasing demand for innovation

The pandemic saw many businesses batten down the hatches and pause innovation to survive, but this has flipped in 2022.

While highlights are far more than orders and contract wins alone, this resurgence in companies’ commitment to innovation and sourcing the best solutions for maximum circularity and ROI, has been great to see – and be a part of!

Passing our ISO recertifications with flying colours

To round off the year, we passed the rigorous on-site ISO recertification process – with auditors raising zero non-conformances or areas for improvement. A fantastic result!

This sees us retain our ISO 9001 (quality), ISO 14001 (environmental), and ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety) standards – something we are both proud of and take very seriously here at UNTHA UK!

These are just a few of the many fond memories from the year, and I’d like to give a big ‘thank you’ to all colleagues, customers, partners, and friends of the business for another fantastic 12 months – without you, all that we do would not be possible!

Here’s to another amazing year in 2023!
