Julie Cassidy shows us her mettle…

UNTHA_Julie CASSIDY

Our people are important to us at UNTHA UK — after all, without their knowledge and expertise we would be unable to deliver the five-star customer service that we’re so famous for.

So, each month we quiz a different colleague on 10 quickfire questions that offer a little more insight into why they play such an important and valued part of our growing team.

Next up, it’s Julie Cassidy, parts and maintenance sales executive… over to you!

How did you first get into the world of shredding?
The last company I worked for supplied and maintained compressors for a lot of waste management sites. UNTHA UK became one of its customers, and I was intrigued to understand what the industrial shredders were capable of. My interest has been piqued ever since.

What’s the one skill or quality that helps you succeed in the UNTHA environment?
I’d have to say strong communication skills and maintaining a good rapport with customers.

Name one highlight from your UNTHA tenure so far.
My first site visits last month, which included seeing two VR and two XR machines in operation. The former were shredding chocolates and crisps, which brought tears to my eyes, and the latter were tackling mattresses — such interesting and informative trips!

How do you unwind at the end of a busy day at work?
Family time. A nice walk in the countryside with my little dog, followed by putting my feet up on the sofa with a tasty G&T!

What’s the best piece of work-related advice you’ve ever received?
We are fortunate enough to receive lots of good feedback in the aftersales department, which always makes our job worthwhile, so I’d have to say ‘happy customers, happy staff’.

Which machine is your favourite from the UNTHA shredder range, and why?
It has to be the XR — it’s like a tank on wheels, I love it. It was fantastic to see what this machine can do in all the different shred tests at the UNTHA showcase last year — a very special innovation.

UNTHA has a number of divisions scattered all over the globe — Austria, Poland, Iberica, and Turkiye, to name a few. If you weren’t a trusty fixture at the UK branch, which business would be next on your work hit list?
I’d love to get over to UNTHA’s Austrian HQ at some point to put faces to the names I work so closely with. Apart from that, having recently waved goodbye to our eldest son who has gone to work in Australia for a couple of years, I’d love to travel to see him, and visit a couple of customers to see our machines perform while I’m in the area.

What do you think makes UNTHA’s service such a hit with our customers?
Our customer service, friendly advice, knowledgeable engineers, and high-quality products.

What’s your main hope for UNTHA UK over the next year or so?
To keep hitting those targets! The aftersales department has been on a roll of late, but I believe there’s always room for improvement — something I hope my new role will allow me to assist with.

And finally, what’s your main environmental hope for the UK as a whole?
To be more environmentally aware and to ensure education for our younger generation covers the importance of recycling and looking after our planet, so we can make the world a healthier and safer place to live in.
