10 must-know facts about UNTHA’s cutter reconditioning service

UNTHA Cutter reconditioning

It’s two months since the launch of our new cutter reconditioning capabilities, so, in case you missed the news, we’ve recapped 10 handy, must-know facts about this game-changing service – or if you’d rather watch a short video, hit play!

1. We’ve invested €1m in a state-of-the-art CNC line at our Austrian HQ, plus specially-adapted welding additives. This significant financial commitment has made this exciting new process possible.

2. The refurb process applies to the cutters from our RS four shaft shredders.

3. We follow five key steps – the visual inspection and cleaning of the cutting set, preparation of the welding seam, hardfacing along the cutting geometry, precision milling, and final inspection and dispatch.

4. The result is cutters restored to their original dimensions with the same manufacturer quality seal. That means the same great performance.

5. Customers can now repeat the hardfacing process several times, i.e. reconditioning their cutters and again to further extend their service life.

6. Wear costs can therefore be reduced by up to 50% – talk to us if you need help doing the sums. If you recondition – rather than replace – three times, for example, you can soon achieve an impressive five-figure saving.

7. It’s not just your bottom line that benefits – by prolonging the useful life of an existing investment, instead of buying new, you’ll boost your environmental performance too.

8. Not all customers know when the time is right for reconditioning, but our aftersales department is here to help if you need us to do a spot-check.

9. We hit the headlines for our innovation – there is a significant appetite in the industry for companies who push new boundaries, especially given the challenging economic backdrop.

10. We’re continuing to invest in our aftersales packages too, so watch this space because there will be plenty more new announcements heading into the early months of 2022…
