Webinar catch-up – Transform your two shaft shredding capabilities – meet the new UNTHA ZR

In our first webinar of 2022 our sales director, Gary Moore, took to the virtual stage to put our new UNTHA ZR two-shaft pre-shredder into the technical spotlight.

When we think about the ZR facts you need to know, the most important is that in developing this mighty machine, we thought carefully about what it needed to achieve in order to drive change and innovation in the market. It’s clear that savvy operators are now thinking beyond the initial upfront costs, instead focusing more on lifetime savings that this type of machine can bring to organisations.

“The ZR needed to do something different! The research and development phase took 24 months and included prototype trials to refine the machines capabilities. What is most exciting about this powerhouse is its scope, and bi-directional shaft rotations that shears and liberates material in both forward and reverse for continuous operation,” said Gary.

There are some key differentiators between the two cutting chambers of this multishift continuous shredding machine:

  • Our ZR2400H is ideal for large volume waste that is difficult to process – perfect for cement plants, Waste to Energy specialists, biomass operators, and sorting and waste disposal firms. It’s high throughput rough shredding capabilities means it can handle bulky waste, waste wood, carpets, mattresses and building waste with ease.
  • The second of the cutting chambers, the ZR2400W is used for the shredding of non-ferrous metal scrap, white goods, and electronic waste. It’s the ideal machine for scrap merchants, metal processors, and aluminium and metal manufacturers alike. Available only in the stationary version of the ZR class.

During the webinar, Gary also mentioned the impact that new legislation will have on plant operators – as subsidies for Red Diesel is about to be scrapped – and how purchasing an electric driven shredder like the ZR, may be the solution to keeping costs down. You can find out more about this in our free whitepaper.

The webinar also engaged with participants via a live Q&A, which prompted insightful questions about input material, the differences between static and mobil-e machines, and one visitor asked whether the ZR can really shred something as large and tough as a washing machine – and the answer is yes, it can tackle this bulky white goods ‘waste’ all day long!
