Our sales manager, Ian Harvey, recently took part in MRW’s ‘The Little Interview’ series. If you missed the original article in the February edition, you can catch up below…

What was your first job?
My first ever job was as a warehouse forklift driver in Belfast. Over the last 30 years, I’ve since worked in senior sales and business development roles – I love working with people.

What are the best and worst moments of your career so far?
When I compare the unregulated working conditions of the 1980s to today’s workplace, they were very challenging. However, a high point was securing my first PS1300 pallet shredder sale after only a few weeks of joining UNTHA.

What one thing would you change about the waste/recycling industry?
The tonnage of waste still going to landfill.

If you weren’t in waste, what would you want to be?
I’ve always loved the idea of being a musician and playing the guitar.

Book or e-reader, and what are you reading now?
Book, I’m currently reading ‘See Them Run’, by Marion Todd – it’s a crime thriller set in Scotland.

Where would you like to time travel to?
2050. I’d love to see the latest developments and achievements in humankind’s quest to save the planet.

What song means the most to you?
The Eagles, ‘Take it Easy’. The lyrics are brilliant, and I think we all need to remember to relax a little from time to time.

What can’t you live without?
Music and sport – it’s how I relax and switch off.

What would you do as prime minister for a day?
Firstly, I’d be looking for stability in my party. I’d then turn my attention to driving the country’s environmental agenda forward with realistic targets – providing more economic support for industry innovators.

Which building would you like to be locked in overnight?
The American Museum of Natural History in New York – there would be so much to see!

What is the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
Honesty is always the best policy.

Who is your biggest inspiration?
I have a huge respect for the military, so it has to be Winston Churchill. There was a time when the nation needed a great leader, and he was just that.
