So, each month, we quiz a different colleague on 10 quickfire questions that offer a little more insight into why they play such an important and valued part of our growing team. 

Next up, it’s Claire Slater, our human resources advisor… Over to you, Claire! 

• How did you first get into the world of shredding?

I joined UNTHA towards the end of the pandemic in 2021. I was looking for a new challenge having worked in the retail and leisure industry for a long time. My HR and admin skills are quite transferrable to other industries, so I felt ready to explore what — for me — was a new, exciting sector. I’m glad I did as I’ve had two great years with UNTHA UK so far — and look forward to more! 

• What’s the one skill or quality that helps you succeed in the UNTHA environment?  

Being willing to multitask and try my hand at anything. 

• Name one highlight from your UNTHA tenure so far. 

Featuring on the UNTHA UK YouTube channel while talking about the LRK machine. I was completely out of my comfort zone during the filming, but seeing the finished product at the end made me so proud to play my part. 

• How do you unwind at the end of a busy day at work? 

A lovely, hot bath and watching a bit of reality TV or the soaps!

• What’s the best piece of work-related advice you’ve ever received? 

Treat everyone the same, be it a customer, colleague, or director — each person deserves the same respect. 

• Which machine is your favourite from the UNTHA shredder range, and why? 

The ZR machine — it’s just amazing watching these mighty shredders in action. 

• UNTHA has a number of divisions scattered all over the globe — Austria, Poland, Iberica, and Turkey, to name a few. If you weren’t a trusty fixture at the UK branch, which business would be next on your work hit list? 

It would be fantastic to visit UNTHA’s Austrian headquarters to see where the machines are built, but to work full time, I’d have to say the USA or Spain.

• What do you think makes UNTHA’s service such a hit with our customers?

We are a small team that works well together — both within and across different departments — so we are able to deal with any queries or issues quickly and effectively. For this reason — and so many others — I think the customer service we offer is a cut above the rest! 

• What’s your main hope for UNTHA UK over the next year or so?

I hope we continue on the same path of providing an excellent benefit to our customers and build our brand name even further within the industry.

• And finally, what’s your main environmental hope for the UK as a whole? 

It would be good to see local councils providing better receptacles for household waste, which would encourage people to boost their recycling efforts and think more carefully about what they’re throwing away.
