It’s been a long wait since he was originally nominated for the Institute of Directors’ 2020 Directors of the Year Awards. But fast forward to October, and UNTHA UK’s sales director Gary Moore has learnt that he’s been shortlisted for SME Director of the Year, for Yorkshire and the North East.

So all eyes are now on the virtual ceremony on 18th November, when we’ll discover who will pick up the winner’s trophy.

Reaching this stage is no mean feat, and the finalist rundown shows that Gary is up against  stiff opposition. But having flown through a rigorous judging process, we are delighted by the level of recognition that the entire team has already received, in getting to this stage.

Because, while the submission naturally centred upon Gary’s leadership traits – way before the pandemic, not just during COVID-19 – it also delved into the combined efforts of all the colleagues the who make UNTHA UK the company that it is.

“Being shortlisted for this award signifies not just my own personal contribution to UNTHA UK, but the team’s combined effort, camaraderie and progressive commitment to growing our business,” explains Gary.

“This is not a one-person vision, nor a one-person success story. We are all truly passionate about driving change within the innovative environmental sector and – COVID-19 or no COVID-19 – that passion has remained unswerving. In what has proven a difficult – but successful – year for UNTHA, I am delighted that we have been independently recognised for our teamwork.”

With a particular specialism in transforming materials that most people would simply consider waste, into renewable fuels, Gary is an active speaker on the topic of the environment and the preservation of valuable resources.

A popular colleague, peer, manager and industry commentator, he travels all over the world to help clients design highly efficient, safe and profitable shredding plants, with UNTHA technology at the heart. He frequently headlines technical conferences and authors journal articles to pass on as much of his knowledge as possible, and also supports fellow UNTHA employees on virtually every continent, with their own personal and professional development.

“Whatever the results on 18th November, I am delighted to have got this far in such an esteemed award scheme,” adds Gary. “It’ll certainly be reason to have a virtual tipple!”
