UNTHA x One Minute Briefs, part two — #WhereDoesWEEEGo

October 14 marked ‘International E-Waste Day’ and, to celebrate the occasion, the UNTHA UK team wanted to reach new audiences and encourage others to help tackle a vast global recycling issue.

Once again, we partnered with social media powerhouse One Minute Briefs, to challenge its 32.3K-strong creative community to design inspiring visuals to raise awareness of the need to recycle seemingly redundant gadgets, to better protect the planet!

As the population becomes hungrier and hungrier for the latest gadgets, a growing number of small electrical devices are stowed away in drawers gathering dust, or – worse still – thrown away in the rubbish bin. Think mobile phones, headphones, kitchen gadgets, and more…

But how many of these waste electrical and electronic (WEEE) items could be re-used by someone else? Or processed for recycling? So many products are, quite literally, going to waste! And this environmental challenge is only getting bigger.

The campaign received significant attention throughout the day — with the original One Minute Brief tweet alone generating 17,000 impressions, and 8,000 more for the announcements of the winners.

The network of ‘OMBLES’ crafted fun and engaging ways to get the important message across and we received 100+ truly inspiring entries — each resulting in an average of 2,000 impressions.

While it took us a while to settle on a shortlist of just 10 – and even more time to choose our eventual winner – what do you think of our final selection?
