Next up, it’s Jason Valentine, our recently-appointed senior sales consultant at UNTHA UK… Tell us a little bit about your role at UNTHA UK… I am a senior sales consultant at UNTHA UK, covering the Midlands, North of England, and Wales. My primary responsibilities include identifying sales opportunities, building and maintaining strong client relationships, and ensuring our solutions align with each customer’s unique business objectives. Many parts of the country have started efficient collection and processing of waste streams such as glass, paper, metal and certain plastics. While there are innovative initiatives and high recycling rates in certain areas, there is still room for improvement in infrastructure, public participation, and waste management practices to meet environmental sustainability goals. Which sector do you think could achieve significant environmental progress this year? The renewable sector stands out as a promising candidate this year, with the advancements in wind, solar, tidal/wave and battery storage technology. Thankfully, government policies and private investment are driving a rapid transition away from fossil fuels, which in turn will improve air quality, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and create a sustainable energy solution for the future. What do you wish you’d known about the environment, as a child? I wish that we would all have been educated about the environment and sustainability in school. What’s the single biggest threat to the environment, in your opinion? Climate change, caused by the burning of fossil fuels, deforestation and some industry practices. Share one tip to help people be ‘greener’, at work or at home: Change all light fittings to LED. Tell us an environmental statistic that you think people need to know: Every year, approximately eight million tonnes of plastic waste end up in the ocean.
