Three awards shortlists for UNTHA UK We are thrilled to have been shortlisted for three prestigious categories in this year’s MRW National Recycling Awards: Energy Innovation Innovation in Recycling Equipment and Vehicles Recycling Facility of the Year These accolades celebrate UNTHA UK’s successful collaboration with PSH Environmental, and the company’s groundbreaking project at its Norwich facility. An UNTHA XR3000C shredder has become a core component of PSH’s advanced waste-to-energy operation – processing up to 80,000 tonnes of waste annually using solar energy. The facility, which has 798 solar panels installed on its roof, generates up to 400kW of energy – enough to keep the plant fully self-sufficient while contributing excess power back to the grid. The site processes a variety of materials, from bulky waste and industrial debris to wood, transforming them into high-calorific refuse-derived fuel (RDF) and biomass for local energy plants. Launched as the world’s first electric-drive mobile shredder in 2014, the UNTHA XR3000C shredder offers high throughput, low operating costs, and an energy efficiency that perfectly aligns with the firm’s sustainability goals. Designed to tackle even the most challenging waste streams, the machine enables PSH Environmental to transform once ‘unshreddable’ materials into a viable alternative fuel source. This not only diverts significant volumes of waste from landfills, but also contributes to the UK’s renewable energy goals by generating over 2 million kWh of energy, annually. The MRW National Recycling Awards are among the most respected events in the waste and recycling sector, which celebrate the creativity, technological advancements, and sustainability efforts of organisations across the UK. To be recognised in three categories is an incredible achievement and a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team, as well as our partners at PSH Environmental. All eyes are now on the glittering black tie awards ceremony, which will be held on 26th November 2024 at the London Hilton, and will see us join our PSH partners to toast the team’s success and hopefully take home a trophy or three! In the meantime, you can watch PSH’s solar panel powered shredder in action at PSH Environmental’s facility. Posted on September 6, 2024 Back to news
