Welcome to Issue #4 of Shredder Bites, from Untha UK
Your e-guide to shredders and waste management
Welcome……to our final newsletter of the year (although I can’t quite believe it!)
December seems to have quickly crept up on us, but it’s safe to say that as I look back on 2013, there is a lot to be proud of. The media has continued to report difficult times – something which we have of course acknowledged ourselves – but the months have well and truly flown by because we’ve never taken our foot off the gas.
Regardless of the economic climate we continue to innovate. This is why this year we’ve launched the S25 compact shredder, the first of its kind in the industry. We also pioneered the use of augmented reality at RWM and devised an alternative fuel production system that has already started to revolutionise the production of RDF for export.
This all forms part of our ‘we will give you more’ promise, something that will continue into 2014 too. So as you plan for the year ahead, please let us know if there is anything specific that we might be able to help you with.
In the meantime, may I take this opportunity to wish you a Merry Christmas, on behalf of the whole UNTHA UK team. It has been a pleasure working with you this year and I look forward to a prosperous 2014 for us all.
More trials, more spares, more stock shredders
It has been a year of growth at our North Yorkshire headquarters. At the start of 2013 we launched our shredder test centre, a facility allowing existing and prospective customers to trial our shredders using their own materials. This resource has proven incredibly popular, with tests being carried out every week on ‘wastes’ including confidential paper, WEEE, carpets, bubble wrap and even leaves! We’ve therefore increased the size of our trial department to cater for growing demand.
Add to this an unparalleled range of spares, more stock and refurbished shredders for sale, and an ever-expanding engineering team and we have a Boroughbridge HQ that now offers more products and services than ever before.
Earlier in the year we announced the installation of three of our Waste to Energy shredders at SITA UK’s SRF plant in Birmingham. One of our XR pre shredders and two TR post shredders are helping to process commercial and industrial waste into cement-grade SRF.
SITA UK has kindly allowed us to film behind the scenes at this prestigious Integrated Resource Recovery Centre, and this video is now available to view on our YouTube channel.
What’s in store for WEEE in 2014?
Waste electrical and electronic equipment continues to pose a significant problem in Europe. The incorrect and inadequate collection and treatment of e-waste sees thousands of tonnes illegally traded and dumped in poorer overseas countries, which not only has adverse environmental implications – it also means that, as a continent, we are once again failing to harness the value of important resources.
