‘On the spot’ with… Gary Moore

In our newest blog series, we put 10 quickfire questions – based around role, personality and the fascinating world of shredding – to one of our valued members of staff. And they only have 10 minutes to answers them all! Next up, it’s sales director Gary Moore…

Name: Gary Moore

Job titles: Sales director

Describe UNTHA in one word:
Problem-solving (that counts, doesn’t it?)

Name your favourite shredder:
It has to be the XR – a shredding innovation which I genuinely believe has changed global attitudes towards the processing of complex wastes, particularly for alternative fuel production.

I’m lucky to have been personally involved in dozens upon dozens of international XR projects – thanks to the ongoing R&D efforts of our Salzburg-headquartered team, I believe there’s even more potential for this machine to revolutionise waste handling operations worldwide.

The shredding of what material most impresses you?
2019 has been a big year for mattress recycling – a traditionally complex product to process, but one rich with reuse and recycling potential once the component parts are liberated. This is just one area where the XR records strong performance, in terms of yield, energy efficiency, whole life running costs and overall shredder ROI.

Sum up in one sentence the role shredding plays in society:
The shredding of materials – even those perhaps deemed unshreddable – helps unlock the wealth in ‘waste’.

What is there too much of in the world?
Dismissive chat surrounding what needs to be done to protect the environment.

And not enough of..?
Action to make all of that talking worthwhile!

What is the one word you wish people would use to describe you?
Positive.

If you weren’t a sales director at UNTHA UK, what would you like to be?
Head of The British Library (I love books, reading, collecting and that unique smell of Papyrus)

Pick a word that symbolises Yorkshire, UNTHA UK’s home county:
Northern! Coming from the south, I do love visiting our HQ and clients/partners across the Yorkshire region. You’re a fairly friendly bunch!

If UNTHA relocated to a different country, where would be your ideal spot?
I really enjoy my trips to our headquarters in Kuchl – we have a state-of-the-art building complete with our global training academy and innovation centre, nestled at the base of an impressive mountain scape. But I wouldn’t say no to an office in the Maldives!
