We’re well into the COVID-19 lockdown now, and if there’s one thing we’ve learned during the last four weeks – and counting – it’s how much people want to keep talking.
Whether it’s to share ideas, maintain a sense of team spirit, talk new shredding projects, optimise existing shredding lines, or just prevent any feelings of psychological isolation, we seem to be having more conversations than ever before, with colleagues, customers, partners and peers alike.
And long may this continue!
So, if we haven’t spoken to you yet, we thought it was important to share how we can keep in touch for as long as the Government’s #StayHome rules remain in place.
- Video calls
Enterprise app downloads of video conferencing technology rocketed to 62 million in one week alone, in mid-March! And we too have made great use of Microsoft Teams during the lockdown. It’s a great way to maintain ‘face-to-face’ contact, and the quick and easy screen sharing facility means we’re able to walk people through shredder brochures, videos and more.
- Voice calls
While many people are newly-converted to online video calls, others would still prefer to simply pick up the phone. That’s OK too – we’ve invested in tech that enables the team to be reached as normal, even though we’re all now based in various locations!
- Remote trials
We’re renowned for our shredder test centre in North Yorkshire, which enables prospective customers to trial our machines, using their own materials, while they’re conducting their marketplace research. We know that, for many organisations, this is the ultimate ‘try before you buy’ experience. And, with some projects still motoring ahead, we don’t want the lockdown to dilute confidence in what our shredders are capable of.
That’s why our engineering team is still working to safe distancing guidelines to conduct remote trials, which are recorded and sent via video link, so that conversations can continue. Talk to us if this is of interest.
We’ve invested in a webinar platform too which means our popular events series will soon be going virtual. COVID-19 doesn’t mean the industry stops innovating, so we’re busy planning a number of advice-led sessions for you to tune into from the comfort and safety of your own home.

- Service and maintenance
We know that many of our customers are working hard to handle the country’s waste arisings – not least the mounting volume of MSW coming from locked-down households. That’s why our engineers continue to travel the length and breadth of the country – as required – to help with shredder maintenance and repairs, plus we have a team available to handle remote diagnostic queries and requests for spare and wear parts.
