Julie Cassidy shows us her mettle Our people are important to us at UNTHA UK – after all, without their knowledge and expertise, we’d be unable to deliver the five-star customer service we’re so famous for. So, each month, we quiz a different colleague on 10 quickfire questions that offer a little more insight into why they play such an important and valued part of our growing team. Next up, it’s Julie Cassidy, our aftersales lead… How did you first get into the world of shredding? I previously worked for a compressed air company – they serviced, and still do, one of UNTHA’s compressors. At the time, I knew very little about what UNTHA actually did, but I was intrigued and so did a bit of research into the company. When a position came up in the aftersales department, I jumped at it, and the rest is history. What’s the one skill or quality that helps you succeed in the UNTHA environment? Communication, with all team members as well as the customers, is vital at all times. If you have questions or concerns, I feel it’s always best to raise them, no matter how silly you think they may sound. Customers like to feel they are a priority, and rightly so – they are what keep us in a job at the end of the day, so satisfied customers mean happy staff. Name one highlight from your UNTHA venture so far. It has to be the MRW National Recycling Awards in London last year. It was a great event, and I was proud to be part of it, especially because both UNTHA UK and our client were awarded Recycling Facility of the Year. It was great to help celebrate such an achievement with everyone. How do you unwind at the end of a busy day at work? I love long walks with my dog. No matter how good or bad your day has been, he never asks any questions – he just loves our time together. Then, of course, I enjoy spending lots of time with my family too. What’s the best piece of work-related advice you’ve ever received? If you’re unsure, always ask. And don’t be afraid to say no from time to time – or at least, “not right now”. We’re only human, and there are only so many hours in the day. The saying that you can become the victim of your own success can be so true, if you let it. Which UNTHA machine is your favourite, and why? The RS40, of course – it’s small but mighty, can shred and pre-shred in one single pass, and is versatile to suit any application. UNTHA has many divisions scattered across the globe – Austria, Poland, Iberica, and Türkiye, to name a few. If you weren’t a trusty fixture at the UK branch, which business would be next on your work hit list? I’d love to run my own doggy day care, ideally in a warmer climate, though I’m not sure exactly where – as long as there’s plenty of sunshine, I’d have my own open fields for the dogs to run free and have fun. What do you think makes UNTHA’s service such a hit with our customers? The constant support we give our customers, right from the initial quoting process of their new shredder through to the aftersales care for their spare and wear parts and service package. What’s your main hope for UNTHA UK over the next year or so? To grow more as a team and to keep the UNTHA spirit alive – extra positivity and lots more sales. And finally, what’s your main environmental hope for the UK as a whole? To be more aware and better informed, and to teach our children about the environment. They are our future, and without their understanding, nothing will ever improve. Want to hear more from our talented team? Catch up on our previous Q&A with our aftersales manager, Andy Nadin.
