Alice Kelly shows us her mettle… Our people are important to us at UNTHA UK — after all, without their knowledge and expertise we wouldn’t be able to deliver the five-star customer service that we’re so famous for. So, each month we quiz a different colleague on 10 quickfire questions that offer a little more insight into why they play such an important and valued part of our growing team. Next up, it’s Alice Kelly, marketing and content manager. Over to you, Alice! How did you first get into the world of shredding? I first stepped into the world of shredding as a supplier, working at UNTHA UK’s bolt-on PR agency where I handled various aspects of the company’s PR and marketing activity. An opportunity arose to work in-house, managing communications projects both in the UK and overseas. My passion for UNTHA’s mission and values led me to make the move, and I haven’t looked back. What’s the one skill or quality that helps you succeed in the UNTHA environment? Adaptability. Working in comms, no two days are the same, and the best laid plans can fall by the wayside in order to jump on a good opportunity. It’s this diversity that I absolutely thrive on. Name one highlight from your UNTHA tenure so far. Attending the Global Marketing Summit in Austria, meeting representatives from around the world, and helping to shape the next phase of our truly international communications strategy. How do you unwind at the end of a busy day at work? Hitting the gym, diving into a good book, or catching some live music. I also enjoy cooking, spending time with friends, and, of course, cuddling my cat. What’s the best piece of work-related advice you’ve ever received? You can’t be everything to everyone. Recognise your strengths and weaknesses — instead of trying to do it all, appreciate the power of collaboration and ask for help. Which machine is your favourite from the UNTHA shredder range, and why? While I’m always impressed by the sheer size and power of the XRs and ZRs, it’s the small yet mighty PS1300 that steals the show for me. 30 pallets an hour! UNTHA has a number of divisions scattered all over the globe — Austria, Poland, Iberica, and Türkiye, to name a few. If you weren’t a trusty fixture at the UK branch, which business would be next on your work hit list? The Austrian headquarters are beautiful and nestled right in the mountains. That being said, I’ve heard there are some very exciting things happening in Asia right now, so watch this space! What do you think makes UNTHA’s service such a hit with our customers? Our commitment to being in their corner every step of the way. We don’t just focus on the hard sell, we take the time to understand customers’ unique requirements and don’t stop until we’ve found the absolute best solution for their challenges. Plus, we stay with them long after the sale, ensuring their machinery continues to perform at its best. What’s your main hope for UNTHA UK over the next year or so? To continue forging connections with our international colleagues, enhancing collaboration across borders, bolstering our communications strategies, and delivering on global objectives. And finally, what’s your main environmental hope for the UK as a whole? That the conversation around waste and the environment continues to gain momentum in the UK – supported by strong legislation – and that we inspire other nations to improve their own sustainability progress.
