12 months of shredding at UNTHA UK

As we near the end of 2020 – our 50th year in business – we’re going to share some positivity and innovation that came from this turbulent time.

So, whether you’ve been keeping up to date with all things shredding or perhaps shielding from the waste world, delve deep into our accomplishments to catch up ready for a fresh (and brighter) New Year.

We started the first quarter with UNTHA’s debut prime-time television appearance over on Channel 4. Our shredding technology was transported to the capital city’s most iconic production studios for its unveiling in Keith Lemon’s ‘The Fantastical Factory of Curious Craft’. A crucial element of the series, we watched our RS40 shredder tasked with recycling the creations of budding artists, as they battled for the crafting crown.

Moving into May, UNTHA headlined screens across the pond at Waste Today’s inaugural virtual trade show. Our sales director, Gary Moore, took to the ‘stage’ presenting to over 800 industry professionals, sharing how they can build the perfect shredder specification for any operation, to attain maximum environmental and financial success!

Not long after, following 12 months of research, development and rigorous testing, we brought you UNTHA Genius – your shredder’s brain. The revolutionary cloud technology – capable of analysing the performance of your machine in real time and from any device – became the eyes and ears of waste operations around the country. Minimising maintenance and the downtime costs of your plant Genius – the first app of its kind from UNTHA – took the market by storm.

Looking back at this year, it would be hard not to mention the global battle against COVID-19 and how our senior engineer, Ben Styles, supported the heroes of the pandemic. With the help of his fellow SLAM (Selby Live Arts and Music) collective members, the group used fundraising proceeds to keep key workers safe, creating 3D printed PPE. UNTHA UK also dug deep and gifted the foursome a further £400 to boost their manufacturing capacity!

Alongside two new guides – ‘The ultimate guide to tyre shredding’ and ‘Mattress recycling in 2021’ – our brand-new webinar series, an IoD shortlist and not forgetting our recent addition to team UNTHA, 2020 has definitely been one to remember. We expect 2021 to be filled with even more recycling and environmental triumphs, and as always, hope UNTHA will continue to be your first port-of-call for all your waste management needs.

If you’d like to follow our advent countdown over on Twitter and LinkedIn, we’ll be disclosing more behind the scenes content as we make our way through December.
