Welcome to Issue #2 of Shredder Bites, from Untha UK Your e-guide to shredders and waste management
…to the all-new UNTHA UK electronic newsletter.
It’s been a crazy few months since Shredder Bites was last in touch, so it’s been tough deciding what content would make it into this jam-packed Spring edition.
The 2013 waste management calendar kicked off with a bang, with UNTHA UK having a great time at the Energy from Waste conference in February. We have added more machinery to our portfolio of used and refurbished shredders, making our range the most extensive we have ever had. And we welcomed two new recruits to the ever-expanding UNTHA UK team. They’ve settled in well – have you met them yet?
But that’s not all. We’ve secured a number of new clients, had some great feedback from existing ones, pulled an expert presentation together for the forthcoming SustainabilityLive event and have devised a way to make our shredders even more affordable…

Alternative fuel production expert Marcus Brew gets ready for the EfW Expo stage
We are set to have a special presence at Sustainability Live’s EfW Expo 2013 thanks to the level of industry-leading expertise within our team.
Our very own alternative fuel production expert Marcus Brew will take to the stage at the Birmingham NEC on Thursday 18 April, to provide delegates with a behind the scenes insight into the best-practice design and ongoing operation of a successful SRF system.
‘Five steps to running a successful SRF plant’ is sure to be a popular topic at the show, so arrive early to avoid disappointment. Marcus will also be available before and after the seminar to answer any specific questions you may have about SRF product specifications, lean manufacturing, input materials, quality control, equipment maintenance and optimisation.
What’s more, the rest of the UNTHA UK team – also renowned in the fields of paper, plastic, metal and confidential waste shredding – will be located on stand S18 for the duration of the three day event.
Waste to energy shredders ready to roll at SITA UK’s new SRF plant in Birmingham
SITA UK’s new Solid Recovered Fuel plant in Birmingham is set to produce some 60,000 tonnes of SRF a year, and three of our high-specification shredders will play an important role in this exciting new facility.
One of our robust XR pre shredders and two of our highly-acclaimed TR post shredders will operate in conjunction with trommels, air shifters, magnets and eddy current separators as part of this state-of-the-art production system.
The process will see commercial and industrial waste from the Midlands diverted from landfill and converted into cement-grade SRF. With a homogenous particle size of less than 30mm, this SRF will be used in Cemex UK’s plant in Rugby, in a 25-year-deal between the cement manufacturer and SITA UK.
This is a very prestigious project for UNTHA UK to be involved in. More information can be found on our website…
UNTHA shredders just became even more affordable
Recognising that not all businesses can raise the capital to purchase a shredder outright, and some organisations quite rightly want to protect their cash flow, we have introduced a range of flexible finance options to make an investment in a UNTHA shredder more affordable than ever.
Plus, in light of the Government’s revisions to capital allowances, the business case for a shredder investment is now incredibly strong.
From January 2013, for a temporary period of two years only, companies can claim 100% tax allowance on their investment in plant and machinery between the value of £25,000 and £250,000. To take advantage of this incentive, which the Government hopes will spur much-needed growth in our economy, email one of our waste shredder consultants today or call 0845 450 5388.
