Would you like to know a little more about the man in the driving seat at UNTHA UK? In this 60 second interview, Chris Oldfield shares some of his career history, industry opinion and secret passions…!
What was your first job?
I was a technical trainee with British Steel
What do you like about your job?
I enjoy being at the forefront of the waste and recycling industry during what is proving to be a very exciting time for the UK.
What is your toughest challenge?
Showing new customers that waste shredders should be seen as a value-adding asset, not simply an expense.
What is your favourite food?
Good old-fashioned liver, onions, mashed potato and gravy
Who is your hero, and why?
My personal hero is Seasick Steve, I think he’s a music legend.
How do you relax?
I enjoy the fresh air, whether it’s boating in the Lake District or walking my two dogs. I can’t deny that I like fast cars and motorbikes too though. I am also a big music fan and I play the guitar.
Book or e-reader, and what are you reading now?
I unfortunately don’t take enough time out to read, but I do enjoy a good Dan Brown novel on holiday.
What is your favourite TV programme?
I like the Apprentice series’.
If you were a bin, what colour would you be?
Bright red, so that people take notice of me before putting things in it.
Weekly or AWC?
What one thing would you change about the waste/recycling industry?
I’d like to see standards improve across the board to help the industry achieve the reputation it deserves.
If you weren’t in waste, what would you want to be?
A professional musician.
What would you do if you won the lottery?
I’d take some time out to enjoy life’s pleasures, especially things I may have missed out on in recent years whilst working hard.
What is your favourite song?
I started out with nothing and I still got most of it left (Seasick Steve)
If you had a super-power, what would it be?
The ability to banish poverty and create a truly global village.
If you could have a drink with one famous person, who would it be?
